Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Water Treatment

A highly effective solution for removing a wide range of contaminants from water across various industries

Suspended Solids

DAF effectively removes fine particles such as clay, silt, and organic debris that remain dispersed in water. The tiny air bubbles attach to these suspended solids, forming buoyant aggregates that rise to the surface for easy removal.

Oil and Grease

Particularly valuable for industrial wastewater from manufacturing, food processing, and automotive repair. The hydrophobic nature of oil and grease makes them naturally attracted to air bubbles for efficient removal.

Organic Matter

DAF addresses both natural organic compounds from plant debris and synthetic organic substances from industrial processes. This improves water clarity and reduces oxygen consumption in water bodies.

How DAF Works

Dissolved Air Flotation works by dissolving air in water under pressure and then releasing it at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank. The released air forms microscopic bubbles that attach to suspended particles, making them buoyant and causing them to rise to the surface. These floated materials are then removed by a skimming device.

Contaminants Removed by DAF

  • Suspended Solids: Fine particles such as clay, silt, and organic debris that remain dispersed in water and are difficult to settle through gravity alone.
  • Oil and Grease: Particularly valuable for industrial wastewater from sectors like manufacturing, food processing, and automotive repair.
  • Organic Matter: Includes natural organic compounds from sources like plant debris, as well as synthetic organic substances from industrial processes.
  • Heavy Metals: When combined with coagulants or chelating agents, DAF can assist in the removal of certain heavy metals.
  • Colloidal Particles: Tiny, stable particles that do not settle easily and can cause water discoloration.
