Troubleshooting Dissolved Air Flotation Systems

2026-02-10
  • Troubleshooting Poor Separation Efficiency

Deteriorating separation efficiency is often related to bubble generation and collision efficiency.

First, check the dissolved air device to see if the dissolved air pressure is stable and if the release device is clogged. Clogging can cause excessively large or unevenly distributed bubbles.

Next, check the reagent dosage. Insufficient dosage or improper ratio will affect the flocculation effect, requiring adjustment of reagent dosage and dosing point.

Simultaneously, check for fluctuations in the influent water quality; sudden changes in impurity content can also interfere with the separation process.

  • Troubleshooting Power Equipment Malfunctions

Power equipment malfunctions mainly manifest as abnormal operation of the water pump and air compressor.

When abnormal noises or vibrations occur, check if the equipment bearings are worn and if the impeller is clogged with sludge. Clean impurities promptly and replace damaged parts.

If the equipment cannot start, check the circuit connections and control system to confirm that the power supply is stable and the frequency converter parameters are normal, avoiding equipment shutdown due to power supply or control failures.

  • Troubleshooting Sludge Skimming and Discharge Issues

Poor sludge skimming is often caused by jamming or abnormal rotation speed of the skimmer.

Check the transmission mechanism for rust or obstruction by foreign objects, lubricate components promptly, and remove obstacles.

Difficult sludge discharge requires checking for blockages in the sludge discharge pipes. Excessive sludge buildup can cause blockages; reverse flushing can clear these blockages.

Simultaneously, check the sludge discharge pump's operation to ensure it is functioning correctly and that the discharge pressure is within specifications.

  • Troubleshooting System Leaks and Pressure Abnormalities

Unstable pressure or leaks can affect dissolved air efficiency.

Inspect the dissolved air tank, pipe connections, and seals one by one for leaks of air or water. Replace worn seals and reinforce connections.

If the pressure continues to drop, check the air compressor's gas production efficiency, clean impurities from the air inlet, and ensure that the equipment's gas production capacity matches the system's gas consumption requirements to maintain stable system pressure.
